Competitive Performing Arts Festivals

The excitement of preparing for a local competitive Festival is like no other, a very special journey where children learn the art of poetry recital amongst many other genres of the spoken word.  Verse and Prose, acting, sight reading, write and speak a poem and more, the list of classes is endless. For many children, this may be the only opportunity they will have to speak before an audience outside of school.  Please see my 'News' page for more information about my Festival credentials and vast experience. My pupils consistently achieve Honours and Distinctions at our Festivals and relish the challenge year after year! Preparation for such a Festival under my tuition involve more than learning a poem and bringing it to life.

Pupils learn important life skills such as:

Responsibility: If we take something on, we own it, we work hard to do the job to the very best of our ability. We are responsible for listening to instruction, and recognising when we need help.

Self Discipline: We have to practice, which helps us to feel more confident. We have to look after our poems so they aren't lost. We have to be prepared for our tuition and listen to feedback which will help us.

Respect: We respect ourselves and others around us. We listen, give feedback and praise each other.

Camaraderie: Our friends are  our fellow competitors and we support each other as much as we can to help each other to be the best we can be.

Festival tuition is enormous fun, we laugh at our mistakes and celebrate when we get it right. In fact, when 'Mrs Bertulis' does her happy dance, we know we've got it right!
