New Era Examinations in Speech and Drama
Everyone wants their child to feel more confident. In an ever changing fast paced world where screens appear to be the favourite way to communicate, it is even more important for children to grow up learning to converse effectively. This happens naturally with speech and drama tuition. Lessons are fun and constructive. Often, after just one or two lessons, parents will comment to me that their child 'seems more confident,' 'cannot wait for their next lesson', and teachers notice children putting their hands up in class more. The self confidence children develop through these lessons will stay with them forever, and manifest itself throughout every area of their life, both at home and school.
As they mature, evidence of their learning and achievements in examinations will be included on College and University entrance applications, which carries a lot of weight with assessors, especially future employers!
What happens in a lesson?
Pupils work on a poem chosen from the New Era syllabus, appropriate for their age and exam grade. Pupils learn to bring the poem to life and are taught vocal and facial expression.
Older pupils may also choose to prepare for an examination in reading aloud, interview skills, public speaking, or Spoken English. Grade 6 and above award UCAS points.
Pupils are given homework and are expected to practice at home to ensure they are the best they can be on exam day!
Please see the New Era website for more information at and contact me for a lesson with your child at school or privately at your home or mine. I welcome groups of friends who wish to learn together...it makes for a cheaper option for parents, too!
