Teacher Training Days

As a qualified and experienced peripatetic speech and poetry teacher, I have tutored numerous pupils for Competitive Arts Festivals and Lamda examinations with enormous success (please see 'News.')

My teacher training days are tailored to helping you feel more confident in delivering quality poetry tuition to your pupils, assuring they know how to deliver an effective, confident and meaningful performance for assemblies and local Performing Arts Festivals.

Many schools would like to enter pupils for these Festivals but don't know where to start.

It isn't rocket science, but it is definitely a skilled area of teaching, which explains perhaps why many pupils entering Festivals and examinations are largely made up of Independent school pupils who enjoy weekly lessons with people like me. However, I am committed to the State sector and have a passion for bringing opportunities like these to pupils who may ordinarily miss out.

Having the knowledge to develop your skills to deliver this within your school will lead to a significant impact on:

Pupils self-confidence and self-esteem

Literacy skills

Developing a love of language, increased vocabulary

Memory and recall

More expressive speech

Awareness of pausing and projection

A greater personal awareness

Presentation skills

Greater knowledge and appreciation of poets and poetry forms

Ability to work as a team, learning to encourage and support their peers

A love of poetry which will say with them forever.

This will have a significant on both educational achievement and social interaction.

Isn't that what we all strive to achieve for our children?

We may even meet at a Festival one day!
